Starting Our Second Day in Magic Kingdom:
When I first started planning this trip we were only supposed to do 4 park days. And while I know that is a huge privilege, I was really stressing that we wouldn’t get to see everything in Magic Kingdom and we would feel rushed, so I added another day to our trip so that we could start and end in Magic Kingdom. So I specifically planned our first Magic Kingdom day to be focused on rides and attractions, and then our last day in the parks was meant to be more relaxed so that we could see the things we missed. I did make an itinerary for this this, but we did not stick to it at all, so i’m not even including it in this blog post, haha!
On a side not, 5 back-to-back park days is fun and exciting… but also incredibly exhausting and I don’t think I will ever do that again, haha!
I woke up and got ready first so that I could head down to the gift shop at the resort and purchase the bigger items that we wouldn’t want to carry around the park all day. My thought process was that I wanted to make sure we could get it from the shop before going to the park, so that way we could pick it up in the park if it was sold out at the resort.
When I got back to the room, everyone else was ready to go so we went to the bus stop and headed to Magic Kingdom! We intentionally missed early entry, so we didn’t have any problems with full-busses or entry crowds. We were able to scan our magic bands and walk right in as soon as we arrived.
By now you probably know how much I love a PhotoPass photo, so when we scanned in I wanted to take a photo in front of the train station. I will say that this was the longest, most unorganized PhotoPass line that I experience the entire week we were in Disney. And also, the most un-enthusiatic PhotoPass photographer… I know that my experience here is probably rare, but I thought it was worth mentioning so that you know if you have a not-so-great PhotoPass experience that is not the norm.
Photos With Roy:
When we got in, we saw another PhotoPass spot that we hadn’t done yet… photos with Roy and Minnie! While Disney World was Walt’s vision, his brother Roy was the one to finish bringing the vision to life. This statue was placed to honor Roy and his support of his brother’s dream and I think their relationship and the history of Disney World is really special, so of course I wanted to make sure we got a photo here!
Meeting Mickey Mouse:
I had great intentions to meet Mickey several times throughout the week but someone on the next-to-last day in Disney I realized we still hadn’t done it. For months and months I had been talking about going to “Mickey’s house” and it would be totally crazy to come to his house and not get a photo with Mickey Mouse! So this was a priority at the start of our day.
The My Disney Experience App said that there was a 15 minute wait when we arrived, which I felt was a reasonable wait time, so we hopped in line. The wait was pretty accurate and we got to meet Mickey under 20 minutes. And a huge crowd came in after us, so I am really glad we got in when we did.
When we walked in to the room with Mickey he greeted all of us with hugs! It felt magical and childlike and somehow you feel like you are having a conversation with him even though he never says a word. Mickey was also such a mature gentleman and shook my husband’s hand, haha! This is similar to the Olaf PhotoPass that I wasn’t a huge fan of, because the camera is continually flashing. This time it caught some fun candid moment’s though, so I liked it better than the Olaf meet and greet.
Starbucks at Main Street Bakery:
One thing about me… I will always stop for Starbucks! In the parks, out of the parks, if the line is short, or if the line is long… I don’t care, I will always stop!
And for those of you who say that the Main Street Bakery line is too long and not worth it… I promise it’s not that bad. It does look intimidating, but it really doesn’t take that long. Take the time to get your coffee, it will make you day even more magical!
Lunch at Crystal Palace:
While we were in Disney I learned that my mother-in-law really likes Winnie the Pooh. I didn’t know this beforehand so I didn’t make reservations for Crystal Palace. While getting ready for our last day in the park I tried to get a reservation but didn’t see any in the app… Turns out I was looking at the wrong date, haha! Once I got the date straightened out we were able to get a reservation for lunch right away.
Since we went for lunch we didn’t get to try the infamous churro waffles, but the lunch buffet was delicious, and so filling! There was a lot of variety, so there was something for everyone.
When we were sat at our table, Eyore and Tigger were making their rounds on our side of the restaurant. We were told that Piglet was on the other side of the restaurant and would be around to our side soon, but we took our time eating our lunch and waited a little longer and still didn’t see Piglet. Thankfully the cast members let us take a quick photo before we left. Pooh was stationed in the atrium so you could walk up and get in line to see him any time, so we took photos with him on our way out.
Photos on Main Street:
I don’t have much to say about this point other than TAKE PHOTOS ON MAIN STREET! These are some of my favorites from our entire trip… There are so many great places to take photos on Main Street and around the castle. The super zoom photo is especially cool here!
Tron Inspired Slushies:
As we got to the area around Tron, Brian said that he wanted to try one of the slushies from Energy Bytes (the snack stand next to Tron). He ordered one flavor and his mom ordered another, and I hate to say it but… they were both so bad! As with all of my reviews, I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying it for themselves (someone out there is bound to like them) but they were so bad in our opinion that we threw them away at the nearest trash can. So don’t say I didn’t warn you, haha!
Meeting Anastasia & Drizella:
I really wanted to meet Rapunzel on this day, but the cast members couldn’t guarantee that she was in Princess Fairytale Hall and the wait time was super long so I didn’t want to waste the time for nothing. But instead, we did get to meet some fun characters that can be a little bit harder to find because they don’t have a permanent meeting location… Anastasia & Drizella!
This was the longest character meeting line that we waited in throughout the whole week we were in Disney. We probably waited 15+ minutes and it was hands down worth every second of waiting! These two put on quite the character performance that will leave you laughing the entire time. When I walked up they said we had to make a rumor about Cinderella. It was so hard to think of something bad about my girl Cindy, but I said “her shoes are uncomfortable” and these two ran with it! We talked about shoes and how my husband should take me shopping and buy me more shoes, haha! We even saw them again later while we were waiting for the parade and they remembered my name and spoke to me again. It was definitely a Disney core memory, haha!
Festival of Fantasy Parade:
We watched the parade from the little pathway that is right next to Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. Thankfully we got their early enough to be pretty close to the ropes and have a good view. I camped out behind a stroller so I didn’t have anyone right in front of me. This spot didn’t have the best castle view for the parade, but it was still a good viewing point to see the parade itself. Our next stop was Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe anyway, so we were able to pop in there after the parade and avoid the post-parade crowd a little bit.
Main Street Confectionery Popcorn Mix:
I love popcorn with chocolate drizzle, so I was excited to try the popcorn mix from the Main Street Confectionery. I went into the Confectionery later in the afternoon and the line wasn’t too bad. There were maybe 5-ish people in front of me and I think it took me less than 15 minutes to get to the front of the line.
When you order your popcorn mix, you pick your popcorn base (butter, caramel, or cheddar), your syrup drizzle, and either 2-toppings or 3-toppings. I chose butter popcorn, dark chocolate, m&m’s, marshmallows, and pretzel pieces. They add a layer of popcorn to the dish and then your toppings, and at that point you will think the container is full. But by Disney magic, they somehow manage to add another layer of popcorn and toppings into the container and still get it closed.
This salty-sweet combo was delicious! I am really glad that I got this on our last day in Disney because I was able to bring it home with me and feel like I was carrying a little bit of fun from the parks. I snacked on it in the car on our 6+ hour drive home and for another day or two once I got home. Since we’ve been home from Disney I have also made an at-home version of this park treat a few times when I’m missing the Disney magic.
An Afternoon Break from the Park:
After the parade everyone was hitting the afternoon slump, so we decided to take a little resort break so that we could rally through fireworks that night. We went back to the resort and took a nap in the A/C and I think this was the perfect move for us. My mother in law decided she wanted to just relax at the hotel for the evening, so my husband and I went back to the park on our own for dinner and fireworks.
Dinner at Peco’s Bills:
We got back to Magic Kingdom around 8:00pm and went straight to Peco’s Bills for dinner. I love tex-mex food so I was excited to give this restaurant a try. Pork isn’t usually my protein of choice, but their cherry-cola pork sounded intriguing to me so I went for it and I’m glad I did. The pork was so flavorful and different than anything I’ve had before —especially for theme park food. I would definitely eat here again!
Happily Ever After Fireworks:
Unfortunately, since we were late getting back to Magic Kingdom and took the time to eat dinner we weren’t able to secure a fireworks spot early. We got to Main Street right before the fireworks started and it was chaotic trying to find a spot that didn’t have an impeded view or ropes around it. Eventually we settled for a spot in front of the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. It wasn’t the best view in the world, but we could still see most of the castle so I was happy.
Post-Fireworks Ice Cream:
After fireworks we went into the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor right away and beat the crowd. We were still pretty full from dinner but we wanted a little sweet treat. We both wanted different things, but we came up with the genius idea to order this Mickey Sundae and ask for an extra bowl so we each got what we wanted. I got a single scoop of chocolate ice cream, and Brian got a brownie with vanilla ice cream.
Photos After Fireworks:
We thought we were going to leave the park after fireworks, but when we still saw people buzzing around the park we decided to see what else there was to do. We took some more photos in front of the castle, and then I remembered the tangled lantern photo op and we darted back to the Rapunzel bathroom area. We had a little bit of a wait for these photos, but I am so glad we got them!
After photos, we took one more stroll around Magic Kingdom and took in her beauty after dark. Then we said our final goodbyes and went back to the resort to get ready to head home.
Travel Day:
Breakfast at Caribbean Beach Resort:
On our travel home day we went to breakfast at Center Town Market. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich with breakfast potatoes again and it was just as good as the first time I tried it on our Animal Kingdom morning. However, I also ordered a Joffrey’s cold brew and it was not the best, and it was a tiny cup. As a serious coffee drinker, I won’t order that again, haha!
Shopping at Disney Springs:
First stop in Disney Springs was the World of Disney, of course! After that we made a lap around all of Disney Springs. We didn’t stop in every shop, but we tried to see as much of it as possible in a few hours.
I really wanted to go into the Lego Store, however they line to get in was insane due to it being May the 4th. We’ll just have to see it on our next trip…
Food in Disney Springs:
To make up for my bad Joffrey’s cold brew at breakfast, of course I had to stop by Starbucks. As someone who uses the Starbucks mobile order feature a lot, I was so happy to be able to mobile order at Disney Springs instead of waiting in lines in the parks. And even though Disney Springs was packed and down to one Starbucks location due to the other being remodeled, they were so quick and efficient. Plus, this little note on my cup made me smile!
Our game plan was to eat a later lunch in Disney Springs before we got on the road to come home. We initially were planning to try Chicken Guy, but the line was fairly long. We also considered Earl of Sandwich, because the menu looked good. But ultimately our hearts led us back to Polite Pig because it was just SO GOOD when we tried it on our short Hollywood Studios day.
A Treat for the Road:
We took the Disney busses to Disney Springs, so once we were done with our shopping and lunch we came back to the resort to pick up our car and hit the road. I had a great idea to visit the grab-and-go shop in the lobby for a Mickey Bar before we left. I highly recommend it! Once again, it feels like a cheat code to bring a little bit of the magic with you and hold on to the joy of Disney a little bit longer.
Conclussion:
I am so sad to see my first-timer Disney World series come to an end! This entire experience of planning, documenting, experiencing, and sharing our time in Disney World has been so much fun. I am so thankful that we got to take this trip this year and that so many of your have followed along with this journey. I hope to be able to bring you another Disney series in the future (hopefully sooner rather than later), but for now I will have a couple more videos coming to YouTube over the next few weeks. And of course, I will be Main Street Dreamin’ about what our next trip to Disney will look like. 😉
Thank you so much for following along on my blog and YouTube channel! See ya real soon!
With Love,
